'Shinobazu Pond at Ueno Park in the Evening'

This tranquil woodblock print depicts a view of Shinobazu Pond at Ueno Park at twilight. The scene reveals a distant silhouetted Toshogu Shrine, with its torii entrance in full view. It is framed by a large and wandering Japanese Pine tree, and numerous scattered clouds over a calm pond surface, which adds to its very graceful presentation. This print is bathed in a blue hue capturing twilight at its height. This woodblock bears Koitsu's cipher and seal, and the Doi Publisher's seals, along with the carver and printer seals. This print was introduced in 1939, and is likely from c1940 following its first edition. It's sight size measures 16" x 11.25" under its ivory mat. It is framed in a simple black frame measuring 19" x 15". This print is in superb condition having been in a folder, and is framed in acid-free environs.                                     P55324                                    $1295.00
