Nipposha of Ginza, Tokyo, Series; Pictures of Famous Places in Tokyo
This oban size print depicts famous sites in Tokyo, and the famed shopping district of the elite in Ginza, Toyko. Kobayashi produced the earliest editions of this print between 1876-1881. The originals were produced with the Japanese and English titles, and a bright yellow border, like this one. Given the well documented history of this series of prints, we believe this is from the first edition of the print. Later prints elimnated the English title and the yellow border. It measures 16.75" by 12". This print is in fine condition with old tape in the upper corners of the verso from a previous mount. The colors are superb.
