'Zentsuji Temple in Rain'

This lovely print depicts two women beneath a temple gate in light rain. Behind the gate, a five-story pagoda rises to fill the background. Dominated in blue and gray hues lends a rather industrial feel to the scene. It is both tranquil and captivating at the same time, a classic Hasui woodblock print. This print was first produced in 1937 by the publisher Watanabe Shôzaburô.  This edition is from c1940. It bears Hasui's cipher and seal, as well as the 6mm seal of Watanabe in the lower right of the print. The print, matted in black, has a sight size of 15" x 10", and the simple black frame measures 18" x 14".  It is in very good condition, with mild generalized toning.       P00522        $995.00
