Kawai Kenji (1908-1996) was an artist of the shin-hanga movement who worked for the publisher Unsodo. Born in 1908, he studied at the Kyoto School of Painting, from which he graduated. He collaborated with the publisher Unsodo for a series of Japanese prints after the Second World War, at which time the United States in Japan were very fond of them. His Japanese prints are mainly views of famous places in Japan, in the tradition of Japanese landscape prints.
