'Willow and Stone Bridge'

This stunning woodblock print depicts two women dressed in traditional kimonos crossing a stone bridge in a Japanese garden. A large willow tree is cascading towards the pond, drawing attention the lotus flowers that are starting to bloom, suggesting mid-summer. The colors are superb. This print was first published in 1926. This edition is sealed with Yoshida's Japanese cipher and seal, along with the title of the print in Kanji script in the left margin, and as per Yoshida's standard the title and his name are noted in English in the lower margin in pencil. This edition dates to the early 1940s. It is in excellent original condition, with just traces of residue on the top verso corners from a previous mount. This woodblock is in acid-free environs. The print sight size is 15.25" x 10.25", it is professionally matted in ivory and is framed in a simple black frame measuring 19" x 15".
